Our sustainable actions include:

• Using an electricity provider offering 100% renewable energy
• Regular maintenance and upgrading of our vehicle fleets to ensure these run as efficiently as possible
• Altering our Jet Boat trip to reduce emissions
• Implementing a recycling programme and encouraging guests to participate in recycling
• Offering only digital photos to reduce waste
• Incorporating our local culture and stories into our commentaries and storytelling
• Offering flexible shifts and hours where possible
• Offering ongoing training and development opportunities for our staff to support their development
• Offering locally-sourced food products and glass bottles where possible

Our environmental engagement includes:

• Ongoing native tree and shrub planting at our riverside base
• Regular clearing of rubbish from the Waiau riverbed
• Ongoing removal of invasive plant species to assist with native plant growth
• Pest trapping to protect birdlife (including native kārearea or New Zealand falcons) nesting in the area
• Limited use of plastic bags

Our community engagement includes:

• Supporting local events and fundraisers in the community with donations of tickets and reduced pricing
• Supporting local charities with donations of tickets for their clients
• Hosting a public AED on the exterior of our riverside base for our local community to use in emergencies
• Several of our staff being members of the local Hanmer Springs Volunteer Fire Brigade
• Supporting and engaging in local events including the annual village Christmas parade
