Check out the Canterbury Quakes exhibition at Canterbury Museum (until October 1.)  Relics from the earthquakes include the fallen (slightly dented) statue of John Robert Godley, founder of Christchurch, a Cathedral bell, the ball from Lyttelton’s famous Timeball, and Mayor Bob Parker’s distinctive orange jacket and quirky T-shirt.  The exhibition is an opportunity to find out a lot about the science of earthquakes, the human reaction to the events and a, hopefully steadier, future for Christchurch and Canterbury.
