It is always good to hear of a celebrity arriving in our midst, particularly when they tell us what we want to hear. Australian celebrity chef Pete Evans has given Christchurch the thumbs up following a one-day visit earlier this year hosted by Tourism New Zealand and Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism.
He was in Canterbury to film for an upcoming series NewZealand on a Plate which will screen in Australia and New Zealand later this year.
Mr Evans said he was impressed with the quality of “foodie” haunts in Christchurch and how well it had bounced back following the earthquake in September.
“It’s hard to see what the actual damage is around here and everything seems to be running normally so I’m stoked,” he said.
Over the years we have had many celebrity visitors to Christchurch, including Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the Beatles and 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, to name a few.
